Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

As you know, this year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Diocese of Venice in Florida, “A Year of Celebration” and commemoration for each and every member of our family of faith in the Diocese.

This historic anniversary is an opportune time to recall the many blessings which we have all received and at the same time, to give thanks. And I express that same thanks to each and every one of you. This milestone anniversary serves to underscore our vital role as good stewards, and fellow laborers in the Lord’s vineyard.

As a faith community, we have good reason to be proud of the many accomplishments which have been achieved over these past twenty-five years. However, as we know, there is much work still to be done.

While many Dioceses throughout the country are closing parishes and schools, here in Southwest Florida, we have been blessed with continued growth. In the past twenty-five years, the number of parishes has grown from 39 to 55, along with 13 missions. There are 16 Catholic schools, including two for children with special needs.

Your gift to the Catholic Faith Appeal or any one of our agencies or programs supports the important work of the Diocese of Venice. Moreover, please know of my personal gratitude to each of you for your generous contributions to our Church during this historic and special “Year of Celebration.”
